Inscription on front free endpaper: "John Tucker Esq. June 21st 1801.- John". Beneath this, in a second hand: "[?] Tucker Aug. 18th 1807". On a second endpaper, another inscription: "John Boys Tucker", and on the verso of the same leaf "J Tucker". On verso of the first leaf, a list of births (probably the children of John Boys Tucker, of Shaftesbury, Dorset): "John Thomas Tucker born April 8th 1818. Elizabeth Boys Tucker born Aug.t 26 1821. Sam:l Ward Tucker born Dec. 20 1824. Mary Anne Tucker born Oct. 18. 1826. A boy still born Dec. 29th 1827. Jane Leer Tucker born April 4th 1829. A girl born Decemb. 31 1830. Eleanor Sarah Tucker born January 15th 1832." At head of title-page "S.W. Tucker", with armorial bookplate of Samuel Ward Tucker on front pastedown.

A doodle (three hangmen) and note on a rear endpaper in pencil has been rubbed out and is only faintly visible.
